"Tip of the Day"s from March, 2008
3/5/08
America is watching the contest between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton as the two work toward achieving the Democratic party nomination.
I think everyone, regardless of political opinion, can agree that both are working hard in his/her campaign. How will these two know if their efforts are successful?
The answer seems obvious: If they win the nomination. Now look at your exercise program. Do you have one? If you do, or did, how would you know if you are successful?
Believe it or not, the answer is just doing it makes you successful. Exercise never has to be a contest. If so, nobody would ever be successful at resistance training,
because there will always be someone stronger or more enduring who can lift more weight or lift it more times... Or, there is always going to be someone who can do
aerobic exercise better--go farther on a run, burn more calories, sweat more so they look like they are working harder, and on and on. So, clearly, you never need to
beat anybody at all when it comes to exercise. You just have to do it! That's all it takes to be successful! While you have nobody to beat, you can, however, lose
to yourself by not doing it. Go ahead and do something today. Any small thing is all it takes. Then be proud of your success.
